Bay Decor competition is a popular activity in BPO Industry. This
activity aims to establish team work and unity. This will
also enhance the team’s creativity.

Our friendly HR Team came up with a bay decor competition with a
SUPERHERO theme. Each team was given a budget of P500 for the materials.

Bay Decor Mechanics:

20% Originality of Concept
20% Arrangement
20%Creativity
40% Character Theme

There are 42 teams who participated on this event. 10k,7k and 3k are the prizes
for the winners. They added 5 more prizes for 5 teams who also prepared and
amazed them during the event. Each fatal five winners got 2k.

Sad!

After a very long discussion and Madugong brain storming of Team Omar,we ended up
with Superman Theme. We chose Superman over Teeanage Mutant Ninja Turtles and
The avengers because of its famous “fortress of solitude”.

The Fortress of Solitude is Superman’s occasional headquarters. Its predecessor,
Superman’s “Secret Citadel”, first appeared in Superman #17, where it was said
to be built into a mountain on the outskirts of Metropolis. However, the formal
introduction of the Fortress took place in the story “The Super-Key to Fort
Superman”, published in Action Comics #241 (June 1958).
Traditionally, the Fortress of Solitude is located in the Arctic, though more
recent versions of the Superman comics have placed the Fortress in other
locations, including the Antarctic, the Andes and the Amazon rainforest. The
general public in Superman’s world is at best only vaguely aware of the
existence of the Fortress, with its location kept secret from all but Superman’s
closest friends and allies (such as Lois Lane and Batman). A trademark of the
Fortress is that it contains a memorial statue of Jor-El and Lara, Superman’s
Kryptonian parents, holding a large globe of Krypton. However, although
Superman has living quarters at the Fortress, his main residence is still in
Metropolis.

We all know that its very risky. “Pag hindi na form yung crystals ng maayos,
ang pangit ng magiging result” . ..Those are just sample thoughts that we had.
But nothing is impossible if we will all work as a team.

We created a set up where in Metropolis muna ang makikita ng judges.
Metropolis is where Daily planet is located, where Clark Kent (Superman)
works. Then they will hear a narration (by Nathan) na mag iiba ang settings from
metropolis, lilitaw ang fortress of solitude!

Of course , we seek help from Mr google. Unfortunately, there is only one blog
that consist info on how to create a fortress of solitude. Shout out to Mr
Scottage Cheese of Oakland CA. (http://buildingthefortress.blogspot.com/)

The blog was helpful but we cant afford the materials. And because we are all
creative , we used alternative “pinoy style” materials.

Fortress of Solitude Materials:

-Boxes (carton, base of crystals) P3 per box
-white cartolina – P6.75
-Glue – P29
-White Paint – P200
-Black Light – Big thanks to our Santuario Del Sto Cristo Parish Youth Ministry Leader Kuya Marlon. Salamat sa pagpapahiram samin ng black light! Ito ang pinaka nagpaganda sa aming set up!
-Scotch Tape – P15
-Brush – P16
-Trash Bag- Cover for each station to emphasized the effects of black light
-Recycled bottled
-Glue Gun
-1/4 illustration board
-Superman Logo created by one of our dispatchers Jenneth.
-Nylon
-Cryptonite – Created by Jaeson. He used a neon green stabilo and white glue.

Metropolis Materials

-Boxes (carton)
-Cartolina
-Paste
-Life sized Tarp of Superman- P250
-Life Sized Tarp of Lex Luthor- P250
-8x 12 Backdrop Tarp (City Scape) – P600
-Daily Planet – Created by one of our teammates , Nathan. He used a plastic beach ball, paint and silver masking tape plus styro for letters.

Here are the steps on how to create fortress of Solitude:

Crystals: Create a rectangular flat baseline from boxes . This is where you will have to attach the base crystal out of carton boxes too (please use glue stick for this) . Once you attached the base carton, form a crystal (long and triangular) out of white cartolina and connecti it from the base (using a scotch tape) . The longer the crystals the better.

Baseline of Fortress:

cut the bottles (spiral cut) in half then use a glue gun to connect it on the illustration board. that will serve as the counterpart for the boxes (carton) baseline. Then just connect the white cartolina.

Here’s the finished product.Tadah!
