I started working in call center industry when I was 17. Yes, underage. Good thing I was employed by a not so LEGIT company so a consent letter from my parents (Thank you Recto) saved me.

I’ve been working for 10 years in this industry. I’ve worked for 7 Centers/Accounts already.

Let me share with you the Pros and Cons (based on my experience) of working in a callcenter.

PROS

1) Good Salary

Yes, its definitely Higher. But it will still depends on how you manage your income.

I believe that having a good income will really depends on your lifestyle and status. If you’re single ,not into night life/party and knows how to save, working in a call center can make you a millionaire. But even if you’re working in a call center with good salary rate, it will just enough if you are the bread winner of the family.

2. Working with Team Mates almost similar to your age. BARKADA TEAM!

Most of the applicants are fresh graduates or working students. So expect to have co workers on those age bracket.

3. Patience will be a Talent, not a virtue.

Dealing with irrate customers or not so bright ones will make you a superhuman with the power of PATIENCE.

4. You can eat your meal in 15 minutes. Girl Scout Mode : ACTIVATED

Because of break schedules that can terminate or wash away your incentives if ever you go beyond the minutes, you have no choice but to finish your meal in 15 minutes or less.

5. No RUSH Hour on your way to work.

The benefits of working on a graveyard shift. TRAFFIC?? Doesnt ring a bell.

6. Lots of Incentive.

Due to forecasted volume of calls, the company will even give you something for doing your main job. Coming to Work on Time.

7.Team Building (Barkada Outing)

We got monthly team funds (not with my current company) that we can use for team R&R! Rest and Relaxation!

8. Health Card

You got sick, well pay for it!

CONS

1. Over Spending

Having a good salary might lead you to spend too much, thinking that in a few days, its Payday Again.

Lets Admit it. Based on my experience, I know a lot of people
working in a call center that are engaged in this not so cool activity. Ive seen a lot of pseudo facebook accounts destroying someone’s moral because of infidelity. Possible reason can be the age bracket, activities (drinking session after shift) and frequent team bonding activities.

3.You will live with a partner called stress

Your 8 hour shift will be stressful. Managing things over the phone is not easy. Your callers can be an effin racist, irrate, centavo conscious etc etc.

4.Obesity

More Money , More Food.
Sleepy? Then Eat.
Stressed out? Eat.
You know whats next right?

5. Hold Up

Hold Up.Hold Up. Hold Up. Those evil people know that you’re working in a call center. They know that it will not be a waste of time to take something from you because they know that you got what they need. Money and Gadgets.

6.Tax

7. Good Bye Family Gatherings

You’re lucky enough if your supervisor will declare that you’re on Leave or on Rest day on christmas and new years eve. Chances: 3 out of 10.

8. Health Problems

You will start to smoke to keep your senses awake. Coffee will be your best buddy. And Liquor will be your stress reliever. On top of those possible illness that you can get from those vices, Not getting the right amount of sleep can also make you sick.

Di ko alam kung san nila nakuha ang idea na wag isama ang call center employees sa mga dapat isuspinde ang mga shift sa panahong wala ka ng masakyan dahil sa baha at kahit kasing haba na ng edsa ang pila ng taong stranded.

Hindi biro ang magtrabaho sa ganitong industriya. Sa dami ng sakit na pwede mong makuha sa di normal na pagtulog, sa pagpapa aircon ng opisina na kala nila ay ice cream ang empleyado, at sa pagiging prone mo sa holdapan sa disoras ng gabi, ay dadagdag pa ang pagsuong mo sa baha at pakikipag bunong braso sa lakas ng hangin tuwing may bagyo. Idagdag mo pa ang kailangang pagnotify mo sa supervisor mo kung di mo na talaga kayang languyin ang baha. Dapat ay CALL at hindi TEXT. So kahit walang tindahan na bukas pra magbenta ng load, kailangan pa rin ng CALL IN SICK na method. Di man lahat ng companya, pero sa 8 taon ko, 75% ang may ganitong kalakaran.

Natanong ko dati ang isa saking mentor kung bakit ganito, sabi nya, may bagyo o wala, meron daw kasing forecasted na number or percentage ng SLA (Service Level Agreement), at forecasted na number ng benta (para sa sales) ang mga cliente. Wala sa contrata ang “act of nature” . Di na ko nakipagtalo dahil iba ang perspective nila sa perspective ng isang hamak na ahenteng tulad ko. Naisip ko na lang na di ba nila pwedeng i forecast din ang bilang ng agente na pwedeng magkasakit, pwedeng tangayin ng baha, o pwedeng maglakad ng ilang milya pag tinugunan pa rin ang forecasted number ng cliente na sinasabi nila.

May mga ibang companya na kahit papano ay may pakisama sa mga sumuong sa mapanganib na bagyo. May ilan na may shuttle service, libreng pagkain at premium pay up to 100% ng daily rate ng agente. Well DAPAT LANG. Wala rin naman sa contrata ng mga call center agent na magbuwis ng buhay para lang mameet ang target na gusto ng cliente.

Saludo ako sa mga kapatid ko sa industriya na sinusuong ang bagyo dahil mahal ang trabaho. Saludo ako sa ngiti ng mga agente na pagdating sa office ay pagtatawanan lang ang basang sapatos at nang gigitatang basang jacket dahil nilipad ang payong ng malakas na hangin ng bagyo.

Isa sa mga dahilan kung bakit naging tourist spot ng mga banyaga ang pilipinas bilang isang offshore company ay dahil sa ugali naten na pagiging masipag at commited sa trabaho. Kaya kahit papano ay may pagintindi sa puso ko kung bakit di magawa ng companya ang mag announce na walang pasok tuwing may bagyo. Yun tayo e. Pilipino. May pagmamahal sa trabaho at pag galang sa nakatataas.

Di Biro magtrabaho sa call center.Buti na lang PILIPINO tayo.
