SAGADA 2016
We went to Sagada last week for a quick weekend getaway with my College Buddies. It was a long, tiring, 12- hour trip from Manila including Lunch and some wiwi breaks. If you’re the type of person whose impatient sa malayong byahe, Sagada Trip is not for you.
Sagada is a town in the Cordillera Mountains, within the Philippines Mountain Province. Most of the activities require Trekking , and mahaba habang lakaran so if you’re not that type of person again who would go for a spot that will require you to walk and trek like a pro, Sagada is Again, not for you. There is no Pedicab or even Tricycle in Sagada so you really need to walk.
Sagada got more famous for its scenic view and romantic spots because of the hugot movie of 2015, That Thing Called Tadhana.
We avail the 3 days 2 nights package of Wonder Escapes Travel and Tours. We got the package for P2690 per head , for 13 pax.

Kuya Bong, one of the owners was also our driver and tour guide. He’s really nice and accommodating. I will rate this travel agency 10/10!
There’s a lot of Souvenir shops in Sagada but its kinda pricey. A Sando for Toddler costs P150, (it only costs P90 in Bora) and the strawberry jam costs P120 (P50 in Baguio)
Day 1 : The Banaue Rice Terraces
The Banaue Rice Terraces was breath taking. Another Check on my Bucket List!
The Sumaguing Cave
The Sumaguing Cave is beautiful but not for Pulikatin and Hikain like me. LOL
I got scared and tired so I wasn’t able to finish it. I backed out after I hit the first leg.
I learned from our Kuya Tour Guides that the “G” in Stalagmite means Ground , and C in Stalactite means ceiling. So you guys know what to call the icicle shaped formation on the ground or hanging on the ceiling.
Day 2 : Echo Valley and Hanging Coffin
You need to trek downhill for the spot where you can see the hanging coffins. We trek for 30 minutes. I’m amazed on how the Igorots were able to put the coffins hanging on the mountains. Hanging a Deceased love ones on the mountain means, you are putting their soul near the gods. You need to pass by the public cemetery before you can reach the hanging coffin spot. It is also called echo valley because you can shout and an echo will bounce back. Unlimited Yell or Hugot if you want!
Sagada Pottery
Address: Sagada-Besao Rd, Sagada
Contact: Siegrid – 0919-671-9875
Tessie – 0999-422-200
Ms Siegrid Demonstrated how to make a pot. She explained the process on how to get and process the clay from the mountain. They’ve been doing it for 15 years now . As per Ms Siegrid, making a pot from a Mountain Clay requires 6 months of patience and Practice!
Ganduyan Museum
The son of the owner of this museum explained to us the Igorot tribes’s cultures and tradition. Do not touch and do not take pictures while you’re inside the museum.
St Mary’s Cathedral
A church that looks like one of those churches in Batanes. As per Kuya Bong, the priests serving in this church can still get the sacrament of matrimony.
Lake Danum
I’m kinda disappointed on how it looked like compare to the photos I’ve seen online. But as per Kuya Bong, it was really a great spot before. Not sure what happened. By the way, this is a best camping site as per Kuya Bong.
Sagada Weaving
GAIA Restaurant
The famous spot in that thing called tadhana movie where Mace and Anthony had their breakfast.
Day 3 : Kiltepan Peak
Another famous spot for the movie where you can see , sea of clouds. Too bad the weather was not that good because of Bagyong Dindo. Puro Fog ang nakita namen.
Good Tastes Baguio
We had Lunch at Good Taste Baguio on our way home, and the food is really good and for an affordable price! We only Paid P106 per head , group of 8 for 4 Viands and Rice! Good deal right?
Where to Eat in Sagada
Dining Out in Sagada means you need to wait for a minimum of 30 mins to an hour for the food to be served. We had that experience with Salt and Pepper Diner, and Sagada Brew. Not sure how they manage restaurants there but I think they need to improve and increase their man power. The only place that made us all happy and full was the Sagada Lemon Pie House. The Lemon Pie is a must try when you are in Sagada!
