Sept 7; 36 Weeks

I had series of mild contractions a week before the D day. Sakit sa balakang, paninigas ng tiyan and kirot ng puson are some of the things that Ive been experiencing for couple of days. We visited my Ob gyn so she could check how my baby was doing and if malapit na ba talaga sya lumabas. We also wanted to make sure if it was just a braxton Hicks.  At 36Weeks, Ob said that The opening of the cervix was at 1CM, 40% effaced but assured me that I will still be able to go back next week for check up. Meaning, di pa lalabas si baby.

Sept 12; 36Weeks 5Days

Not sure if Im just paranoid or what but I experienced different movements and pain after our check up. Our little angel was so restless for 3 consecutive days. Super likot talaga.I also noticed that my “protruding navel” was not so protruding anymore LOL! I felt pain in my private area too. Because we needed to make sure that my baby was still ok, we went again to my OB. She checked and Im still at 1CM, but 60% Effaced. She advised us to do a non stress test so we would know if the baby was ok. Series of contractions pero walang progress sa opening ng cervix might stress out the baby which is not good. Thank god, the non stress test results was ok.

Sept 13; 36Weeks 6Days

I was not in the mood, irritable due to mild contractions plus magulong isip. Ive been thinking about the baby and if I can make it after I give birth. I got asthmatic during my pregnancy and it wasnt easy to be pregnant with asthma. I woke up at around 12 noon, when I noticed na I have blood stains on my undies. I just lost my mucus plug. Thats already a sign na malapit na lumabas si baby from what I have read. So I took a bath and ate my lunch then went to san juan medical center  with my mom and hubby. We advised my ob that I already lost my mucus plug. At san juan med, they checked and Im at 2cm but was advised to go home since matagal tagal pa daw lumabas si baby pag 2cm. We just did the non stress test again just to make sure that the baby was ok before they can discharge me from the hospital. My Ob asked me to visit her tomorrow for a check up. Weeeew! False Alarm!

Sept 14; 37Weeks

That feeling na para kaming nakapasa sa isang napakahirap na exam. Yung feeling na nanalo ka sa race na hangin ang kalaban mo. Thats what I felt at week 37. We made it to the “finish line” or what pregnant women considered as full term for babies. Meaning, not a premature anymore. Lungs should be functioning well, baby can suck and drink milk etc etc. I felt so blessed na nagbunga ang pag bedrest ko for a month para di mapadali ang labas ni baby.

We went to our Ob again since I already lost my mucus plug. She checked and im still on 2cm. With all the contractions that Ive been experiencing plus the mucus plug, she suggested to put me on induced labor the next day para di mastress si baby. The head was already very low, wala lang talagang progress sa opening ng cervix. Para akong nasa death row when she handed me the request form for induced labor. Mas nakaka nerbyos pala yung alam mo kung kelan mo mararamdaman ang pinakamasakit na physical pain sa buong buhay mo.

Naglakad lakad kami ni hubby to cut the tension. 4 floors up and down, twice. My husband and I were just making fun of it but honestly,nakakapagod mag akyat baba ng hagdan!

Labor Starts now!

At around 7pm, I felt a different pain and contractions. Mukang ito na. Inorasan ko and its every 10-15mins. Mukang natakot si baby sa induced labor. Im having a hard time walking but naglakad lakad ako to help my cervix dilate and it worked.

At 9pm, i asked my mom if pwede nya ko imassage then I felt my water bag broke. We rushed to san juan med again and I  was admitted at 3-4CM 70%Effaced. I got 4 more preggymates sa delivery room.

I can still smile at around 10pm. Nakikipag chikahan pa ko sa katabi kong mommy who just gave birth. Sa kaba ko, nakipagkwentuhan ako sa kanya kahit di na sya sumasagot ng maayos (Oh well, she’s still groggy and tired since she just gave birth, stupid Annie )

At 10:30 pm the contractions are getting heavier and more painful. I did what my friend advised me. “Kapag humilab, I ire mo!” I did that and feeling ko I’m a superwoman cause I can still take the pain while doing her advice. The contractions will last for 1 minute then it will contract every 10-15Mins.

At 11:00Pm, call me nana and cry baby but I cant take it anymore. Sobrang sakit na talaga and Im still at 5Cm. I cant explain how painful it was but it was the most excruciating pain that I felt in my entire life. It was more painful than the labor pains on my 1st pregnancy. I was crying like a kid na inagawan ng candy. Mahihiya ang asong pinapalo sa iyak ko everytime humihilab ang tyan ko. Parang pinipiga ang puson ko, parang dinudurog mga buto ko. My ob then advised the resident on duty to inject something. (By the way, my OB is actually from Lourdes, she is just a visiting doctor in San Juan) Pampa groggy. Everytime matatapos ang pain, Makakatulog ako. Nakakahilo ang gamot but it helped.

Sept 15; 37Weeks Day 1

At 1am, they checked on me again. Para na ko nagha hallucinate sa pain and at the same time,groggy and hilo sa gamot. I just heard the nurses, “Full na to, i-table na natin”
Para kong kakatayin. I knew na lalabas na si baby cause I had that feeling of Diarrhea. I saw my Ob smiling at me. I felt relieved knowing that I was in good hands. When I was on the delivery room, I can see a lot of faces. 2 nurses on the crib for baby, 2 nurses sa bandang taas ko, 1 resident doctor malapit sa tummy ko, my ob,plus 2 nurses na naka abang sa baby, plus 1 who held our camera.

I was injected with epidural sa spine so i wont feel the pain. I felt so relieved. Kudos to the scientist who invented/discovered epidural lol

At 1:18, after 3 pag ire, pagsigaw at pagire, i gave birth via natural spontaneous delivery to a healthy baby boy. That feeling na nakuha mo na ang medal mo from the exam na naipasa mo. That feeling na na award na sayo ang trophy mo sa race na napanalunan mo. I saw his face, may mini me na ako. He was on my chest for 20 minutes and he latched on my breast for the first time. Unang yakap was the best feeling ever. Im glad that I gave birth sa hospital who is an advocate of Unang yakap and breastfeeding. I heard him cry a little, humihikbi din sya. He hold my fingers. Those pinkish warm tiny fingers who used to push and punch my entire digestive system for the past few months. Thank You Lord for giving us Dylan Riley! Yan lang ang nasabi ko.

The entire experience was like a roller coaster of emotions. And it was definitely the longest Week of my Life! Cheers to all the mommies out there! Wala ng mas sasakit pa sa pain ng labor and giving birth!
